General Guidelines

Most of PokeMMO's dialogue is written in an informal and friendly tone, similar to the original games. Translations should reflect this.

Placeholder strings are used for many copyrighted or sensitive terms. For example, {STRING_0} is a common placeholder for your favorite monster franchise. If you need to reference a copyrighted term within your translation, use placeholders.

Tools available for translators

Tools to aid translations are available within the game client: - /dialogtest <string_id> is a user command which allows you to playback a string in either NPC Dialogue or Battle contexts. This can be used to - For most languages, DeepL is available for machine translation. MT may give you more context or suggestions on how to proceed with a string.
